Today was the start of a very busy next few days, but it was
an awesome start! We took the early train into the city because we were going
to have class in the city along with a tour at the Capitoline Museum. We had
quite the adventure on the bus during the 20-minute ride all the way to
Capitoline Hill from Termini… We were literally packed like little sardines on
this bus! The good part was we ended up next to a family from America so we all
had a good laugh about our situation on the bus.
Once we made it to the Capitoline Museum we went inside to
meet our tour guide Francesca, an adorable young woman who was more than
excited to meet us all and share her knowledge about the museum. The highlight
of the museum was definitely seeing the famous bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius.
We also got to see an awesome view of the Roman Forum for the balcony of the museum!
We stopped at a delicious café for lunch after our tour and then
made our way to a park to have class before we finished for the day. It’s
always a nice change to have a class in the city, and my guess is that we will
get to do so a few more times this week due to our busy schedule! Tonight when we got back Mike introduced us to pinecone bocce... What to play when you have plenty of open space on campus and huge pinecones I guess.
