Today was the last day of our second week here in Rome, and
I can’t believe how incredibly fast the time has gone. It was also the last day
that we would be spending with the girls’ soccer team, as we are leaving for
Florence tomorrow morning, and they are headed back home on Saturday because
their spring break is over! So today we were going to have class in the city as
usual however, the yucky weather sort of caused some changes in our plans. We
ended up having class on campus, and afterwards got the afternoon off because
we were planning on supporting the soccer team at their game against the Roma
25U womens team!

| Welcome to dirt European soccer fields I guess!! |
The faculty rented a charter bus for us and we made the trek to a
soccer complex that was just outside the city to watch the game! We were all
very excited to see the girls play and support them, however the weather did
not exactly cooperate with us!! As the night wore on, the wind got worse and we
all ended up huddling together with blankets as we cheered on the team! Danilo
spoiled us with a pitcher of hot chocolate to help us warm up though, and let
me just say, Italian hot chocolate is possibly the best hot chocolate I have
EVER had!!! (Imagine drinking warm chocolate pudding before it sets… that’s hot
chocolate here!) Even though we all froze, we stayed for the whole game and
sadly, the girls ended up losing by one goal in the last few minutes with a final
score of 2-3.
After the game we all got back on the bus, thawed out, and
headed to Castel Gandolfo for a farewell dinner with the soccer team! Now, we
have family-style dinners every night on campus, but the dinner we had tonight
at the restaurant was so incredible! Everything that was brought out to us was
delicious and it was like the food never ended!! The delicious meal ended with
a piece of apple pie and the restaurant owner gave us all complimentary lemon
cello on top of that. Talk about an amazing meal, and an awesome evening! Now,
bring on a great weekend in Florence!!
